Version Selector for Ventuz
VSelect is a version selector that will check a Ventuz project's version and prompt you with all compatible installed Ventuz versions.
What it does
The tool will read out the version of your Ventuz project and check it against all Ventuz versions it could find on the local machine. It will then present you with a list of all compatible Ventuz versions, allowing you to select the one you want to use. The matching version is marked with a checkmark, all higher versions are marked with an upgrade sign as they would mean to raise the project version.
What it does not do
VSelect distinguishes the major version, so any Ventuz 7.x project will be compatible with all Ventuz 7.x versions, though the minor version may not be compatible. Also, VSelect does not modify your project, so when opening it in a higher Ventuz version, make sure to save the project to change the version number.
Installation
VSelect comes as a self-contained executable. You can place it anywhere on your system. I recommend the applications folder or the local AppData folder, which you can navigate to by entering the following path in the Windows Explorer address bar:
%APPDATA%
In order to associate the Ventuz project files extension (.vzp) with VSelect, right click on any Ventuz project and click on "open with". Then select "Choose another app" and browse for the VSelect executable. Make sure to check the box "Always use this app to open .vzp files". Now, a simple double-click on any Ventuz project will open VSelect and show you the compatible Ventuz versions.
Configuration
In case the opened Ventuz project matches an installed Ventuz version, VSelect can automatically start that version of Ventuz without prompting the user. You can set that option in the VSelect dialog. If you want to change it again, simply open the application directly and you'll get the dialog again.
